The London Cru Pet Nat Case

Welcome to the latest trend in English wine and it's a trend that we hope is set to continue because blooming heck, this is good! Nicknamed the 'Hipster Bubbles' (don't let this put you off...), we've been overwhelmed by the response of this creation by the Fulham based winery, London Cru. This is one you must give a go! 

This Pet Nat came about when, back in 2020, the Pinot Gris grapes were particularly perfect, and ever more exciting, the Gris colour was very well developed. Alex, the winemaker at London Cru, took some inspiration from friends in the USA and macerated (soften) the grapes for three days before fermentation. The result is a wine with a very tropical character, peaches and mango, and a style of Pinot Gris which is very much unique in the UK (and did we mention it's made in London!).

The final stages of fermentation were completed in the bottle to capture some of the natural carbon dioxide and provides a natural fizz. The bottles have then been hand-disgorged (removing the sediment), however each bottle may still have a small amount of yeast. The resulting fizz level is light and helps to amplify the tropical Pinot Gris character… see if you can find the ginger spices in the back of the palate!
