The Winter Warmer Red Case

Winter Sipping.

As much as we'd love to advocate how great a English Rose can be during the colder months, especially during a crisp blue-sky winter's day, we do clamber most winter days for a hearty red, especially when the clouds come over and the cold sets in which is exactly why we created this case.

Tried and tested by the team at the English Vine these are among our favourite English red wines that we can vouch for in the fullest. A selection made from different grape varieties so you can explore what the UK has to offer. The Sharpham Pinot Noir is fruity and smooth, the Winbirri (aka the Norfolk Rioja) is a favourite of our CEO and the New Hall Purlai is two grapes most people won't have come across but trust us when we say it works with its bold fruit flavours. St Edmunsbury red is herbaceous and would perfect for a winter hot pot and the Lychgate red is an easy drinking blend from one of the top winemakers in England. Finally the Stanlake Park Grand Reserve is made from three different vintages and from another top wine maker who is one to watch.

So, sit back, grab a good book, light the fire and settle in with this little lot.

A brilliant red wine from Bolney. A medium-bodied dry red wine with earthy aromas, hedgerow fruits, and black cherry. This is a great wine to drink with friends or even on your own when you need a pick me up after a long day at work.

A great example of a cool climate red wine. So good we couldn’t stop drinking this one. One of the English Vine team remarked it would be a great first date red, although given they’ve been married now for some years, we aren't entirely sure how this conclusion was formed.

We first sipped this in our pop-up bar in Shoreditch last year. We liked it so much we decided to try it with the customers in the bar. Everyone loved it on the night apart from Steve but we're not sure Steve likes anything. The people have spoken!

A Norfolk Rioja? Oh how we laughed. We were not laughing when we tasted it. This is the real deal and is indeed a bold red. It is smooth, fun, has fantastic plum fruity flavours and has that oaked Rioja finish. Perfect red with Sunday Roast.

Giffords Hall make two reds, one that incredibly tops 14.5% ABV. We preferred this younger brother to the 14.5% , the St Edmunsbury. It is such an enjoyable wine that we opened it as soon as it arrived on our doorstep. A lighter red which has good flavours and great value for £15. Guaranteed enjoyment with this one!

This is made from three different vintages (2015, 2016 and 2017) and is the first one made solely by Nico Centonze at Stanlake Park, a winemaker to watch. He even signs the back on this bottle which we like. Has a lot going on when you taste this.
