The Vine's Vegan Case

100% Local and 100% Vegan wines. Zero compromise.

All wines are vegan right? False. It's down to how the wine is clarified and a process called ā€˜finingā€™. All young wines are hazy and contain tiny molecules such as proteins, tartrates, tannins and phenolics. Usually the wines, after some time will self-stabilise and self-fine, but some producers choose to speed the process along by using agents, such as caseinĀ (a milk protein),Ā albuminĀ (egg whites),Ā gelatineĀ (animal protein) andĀ isinglassĀ (fish bladder protein), and this is what makes a wine vegan unfriendly!Ā But don't fear, we've got you covered with these amazing vegan wines thatĀ make no compromise on flavour.

So, let us begin with a little secret. These vegan English wines are among our very favourites. In fact, the first bottle is just down the road from our Head Office. It is 100% Bacchus, England's flagship grape and is 100% delicious and great for any occasion. Next up is Sharpham Dart Valley from Devon. A fruity wine and originally came recommended to us by a well known wine-blogger. It has a refreshing acidity and pairs really well with a crisp winters day and a chicken roasting in the oven. The final English Vegan White wine is a special award winning Chardonnay.Ā Not your typical Chardonnay, the smoothness gives it an elegant taste that will be sure to impress whoever you drink it with.

The English redsĀ are next, and we're starting withĀ the delightful Shotley Pinot Noir red from Suffolk, gorgeous. This hasĀ a beautiful aromas and is as delicious as it smells. Next is the Whitehall Nethercote Hlil from Wiltshire.Ā A combination of two red grape varieties this wine is medium bodied in style and perfect for a good hearty dish or a big Sunday Roast. Lastly is our most popular red, Winbirri Signature from Norfolk. Smooth, fun, has fantastic plum fruity flavours andĀ anĀ oaked Rioja finish which makes it difficult to put down.

So there you go. All English Vegan wines and all incredibleĀ at that.Ā

A Norfolk Rioja? Oh how we laughed. We were not laughing when we tasted it. This is the real deal and is indeed a bold red. It is smooth, fun, has fantastic plum fruity flavours and has that oaked Rioja finish. The perfect red with a Sunday Roast.

  • Kent

One of the only English Chardonnay that ticks all the boxes, it's a smooth wine with refreshing tropical flavours.

  • Red

  • Suffolk

This single estate Pinot Noir is light bodied and pairs well with cured meats, cheese and game. It's really smooth, so much so that we even put Barry White on to listen to this while enjoying this. It's beautifully balanced. Those tractor boys and girls in Suffolk really know how to make a red. Well done Shotley!
